Hello Everyone

I am trying to update a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit device to Windows 10 Enterprise 64-Bit, while keeping all the Apps and Personal Settings intact. The installer unfortunately does not give me the option to do that. Here are the steps I have tried:

  • The Display Language is set to en-US and the location and regional settings are set to en-UK (I hope that works, I was not able to determine if the UI-Language can be english-UK)
  • I have temporarily disabled my antivirus
  • I do not have any external drives installed (except for the Windows Installer)
  • Th Registry-Key "Appdata" underneath "Computer\HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" is set to "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming"
  • I have enough disk space available
  • I do not want to deinstall any software if possible

Do you may know what else I could try? Is there a way to check why the installer does not let you to select the option "Keep Apps and personal settings"?

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Gabe

To fix the problem, it’s advised that you disable your antivirus completely and recheck.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Kindly follow the steps provided below to resolve your issue.

This article provides a summary of available upgrade paths to Windows 10. You can upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or a later operating system. This includes upgrading from one release of Windows 10 to later release of Windows 10. Migrating from one edition of Windows 10 to a different edition of the same release is also supported.

If you're also migrating to a different edition of Windows, see Windows 10 edition upgrade. Methods and supported paths are described on this page to change the edition of Windows. These methods require that you input a license or product key for the new Windows edition prior to starting the upgrade process. Edition downgrade is also supported for some paths. However, applications and settings aren't maintained when the Windows edition is downgraded.

    Hello

Thank you for the info, but I have checked all these requirements and they should be met...is there a way to find out why the installer does not let me update the System? Are there any related log files?

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind regards,

    Gabriel
