Why does Edge make you go through initial theme settings, changes to Bing, import Chrome, etc everytime after updates

So everytime Edge updates automatically and then I open it, it wants me to pick the theme, colors, asks if I want to import Chrome data, resets search bar to use Bing, etc.

I know it is not just my computer because all of mine do it and other computers I work on for people do the same thing. I am really tired of it.

This has been going on for months so Im pretty sure it is set somewhere to do that on purpose. Is there a setting to disable that or does an update have to wipe out certain settings when it updates and its normal behavior that cannot be stopped?

It just did it right now and my current Edge version at the moment is 108.0.1462.54 (Official build) (64-bit)

Is this normal behavior? Pleaseeee help and please dont say to reset Edge or reinstall because it is not just my computer.....it is many and I am sure others have the same issue.

    Hi @Jacob Rodriguez ,

Based on your description, I think the policy HideFirstRunExperience will do this job for you. Please follow these steps:

    1. Download and use the latest Microsoft Edge Policy Template if not installed yet.
    2. Open Group Policy Editor.
    3. Go to User Configuration/Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Microsoft Edge.
    4. Double-click Hide the First-run experience and splash screen.
    5. Select Enabled.
Of course, you can also do it by modifying the registry SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge. The name is HideFirstRunExperience with the type REG_DWORD. You can just set its value as 1.

If you don't know how to install the Edge policy templates, please refer to this doc: Download and install the Microsoft Edge administrative template.
