Cannot change version of nuget package

Question

Cannot change version of nuget package

I want to test using an older version of a nuget package. I uninstall the latest one and install a previous version. When I do I get the errors shown in the pic.

Now I use NewtonSoft in other projects but not this one.

So why this error????

I close VS and reload the project and there is no change. WHY?????

It gets really good, if I click on the error APPX002 it goes to a page about windows 8.1 store.

And it gets even worse.

I delete the solution. Create a new one with the same name and add the controls to the solution. I get the SDK folder error.

This is beyond confusing.

So lets add Windows 11 to the list of problems this is having.

I restart windows and reload the solution to see if that fixed the problem. NOPE!!!!

Ok lets close VS and delete the solution. NOPE!!!!

Folder is in use!!!

So lets add Windows 11 to the list of problems this is having.

I restart windows and reload the solution to see if that fixed the problem. NOPE!!!!

Ok lets close VS and delete the solution. NOPE!!!!

So restart windows again and try to delete it and it works.

Seems that VS or Windows has kept the folder in use even after VS is closed. I guess it thinks it is smarter than .......

For this error: APPX3217, can you confirm that corresponding Windows 10 SDK (10.0.19041.0) has been installed(VS Installer > Modify > Individual components)? Or you can try to download it from here: Windows SDK and emulator archive.

This is not the problem and not sure why I would need the Windows 10 SDK when I am on Windows 11.

The real problem is VS. I tried to create a new project using the older version of the controls and it failed. I was using the same name each time so I thought to change the name of the solution.

IT WORKED. VS seems to have this cache problem in that I can think of no reason that using the name of an formerly existing solution would cause a problem.

At present VS in concert with Maui ranks as the worst MS development product ever by MS. For example last night I put my system to sleep. The emulator was running at that time. When I woke the system up this morning I tried to close the emulator, NO LUCK!!! I had to use Task Manager to close it.

At present Maui is so far from being a viable platform it is ridiculous.

Could you please share us some detailed steps to reproduce and confirm the issue that you got?

I tried to create a new project using the older version of the controls and it failed. I was using the same name each time.

Was there a same name solution in the same directory? And was there any illegal character in the custom name, maybe? What did the error message say?
