Sound only works for certain apps like teams and doesn't work for edge or chrome

Question

I am using Windows Enterprise 10 with OS build: 19044.2364.

The sound works only for certain apps like teams. It does not work in Chrome or Edge.

What can cause this

For Chrome:

Launch Chrome, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, and choose Settings.
Click Privacy and security from the panel on the left.
Set your default microphone from the dropdown menu, and under the Default behavior section, ensure Sites can ask to use your microphone is selected

Else, you can reset Chrome or, update Chrome.

For Edge:

Go to edge://settings.
From the left pane menu, select Reset settings.
Click Restore settings to their default values > Reset.
