How does PL-300 work with the different parts of the exams? Are they connected or separate?

Hi community, I tried to take my PL-300 exam yesterday with PearsonVue. It started well and on time, however it started with 10 MC questions regarding just one and the same Study Case. I had expected that it would start with "prepare data", nevertheless, I worked my way through those ten questions. However, after that, I did not get any other questions. I had only one option left which was the button "Finished", which I obviously did not want to press because I knew there were another 44 questions left unanswered. Finally, PearsonVue closed down the exam. I was now wondering if I misunderstood PL-300 and if it really comes in parts and I must press "Finished" after each part and this button would in fact not finish the whole exam?
For me, the impression was that I just got the last part of the exam and that is why my only option was to finish the exam afterward. If anybody could enlighten me how this exam works, I would be really greatful. Thanks and have a nice day
P.S. I did not find any useful tag, sorry
