Hello,

I am looking at using the Data Migration Assitant and wanted to understand how the encryption works?

i have the option on connection properties to 'Encrypt connection' but this does not ask for any certificate details so wondered how this worked?

Could anyone help?

Thanks

simon

    Hi,

If the SQL Server does not have Certificate or Self Signed Certificate it will use standard connection, during the process it validates Server Certificate and uses that. Check the detail information on this over here.

    Hope this helps.

So to confirm by Standard connection you mean it will be over http? not https?

    Thanks
