What is a possible Intune license for the following use case?

Hi,

I have taken a look at the following link, but it does not give me a satisfactory answer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/licenses.

For context, the company has several Windows 10 Pro devices, separated into 2 categories: On-site PC (shared device), and Laptop (assigned to a primary user).

  • All devices are domain-joined and configured with Intune.
  • All users are using Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses and their Microsoft account to sign in to devices.
  • Microsoft accounts serve only one purpose, which is to help users sign in to their Intune-controlled devices (and sync data to OneDrive).

Intune works perfectly for us, and we want to continue using the service. From a normal end-user perspective, not administrator usage, of all services from the Microsoft 365 Business Premium license, we only utilize Intune and OneDrive. It is not possible for us to migrate the whole infrastructure just to further utilize services provided by the license.

With that said, what are alternative licenses, that provide the same features (or a bit less), compared to the Intune included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium? It would be best to have an Intune-only license, so we don't have to pay $20+/month for the whole unused package.

    Essentially, mismatching some licenses and EMS E3 work.
