RDS-UPD & Run as different user

Hi,

we're setup a new RDS 2019 farm (1 broker and 2 Session host) plus UPD users profile.

This farm will service the IT, so the IT members will connect to the RDS with their "standard users" and they'll lunch Admin application (such as ADUC console, DNS console, etc) with the option RUN AS DIFFERENT USERS.

The problem is that, the UPD profile disk of the admin account will be not attached to the session so the changes to the admin profile will be not saved.

For instance, we use an administrative application to manage AD that saves its configuration into %appdata%\application name\etc and in the registry. If i lunch this app with run as different users, inside other rds sessions, the settings saved on this program will be not saved.

I see that there are been created TEMP profile folder when we lunch application with other user.

My question is: RDS UPD profiles are compatible with Run as different users lunch application option ?

thanks

Marco

    HI
1"RDS UPD profiles are compatible with Run as different users lunch application option ?"
in general ,UPD will be attached to specified domain users' remote session with specified RD session ID on RD session host server.

2.can you share a picture about your issue "they'll lunch Admin application (such as ADUC console, DNS console, etc) with the option RUN AS DIFFERENT USERS“
3.how many administrators will logon both RDSH servers ?

    Hi,

    sorry for the delay.

The problem is, if i connect with a standard user and i launch a whatever application with another user, the relative UPD profile is not loaded so, any change to that profile will not saved.

A profile has been created like TEMP."domain name.001 and so on.

there is no error or warning message in any case, also in the event viewer there are no errors.

    thanks

    Marco

    HI
"The problem is, if i connect with a standard user and i launch a whatever application with another user, the relative UPD profile is not loaded so, any change to that profile will not saved."
1.does this phrase equals to this phrase "The problem is, if i connect with a standard user and i launch a whatever application with another user(domain adminA), the relative UPD profile(domain adminA profile) is not loaded ,so any change to that profile will not saved"

2.please use Microsoft build-in notepad to explain your issue ?
when i logon the standard domain account u1 and run notepad as administrator ,i can save as notepad content to domain admin UPD profile like picture 2

    Hi,

i tried to do the same test you did.

I've opened a new RDS session with my standard user.

Then i opened a Notepad with another account and the system create the c:\users\temp folder. It doesn't map the Different users profile VHDX.

The UPD profile share have the Everyone Full control permission and the NTFS right has been granted to the RDS Host name computer machine as mention on Microsoft documentation.

    thanks

I've another single Session host with the same UPD configuration (completely separate RDS configuration) and the problem is the same.

The Session host are all 2019, the server that host the UPD profile share is a 2016.
