Different behavior of SSRS Listboxes in RDP Sessions

We have some SSRS reports with parameters that may have a large number of values (e.g. 2500 values) based on an SQL query. When the report is started on a normal client computer in the Edge browser, the listbox with the parameter values opens fast and it is easy to scroll through the values to the end of the list. But when the same report is started on a remote Edge browser via an RDP session, the listbox opens and shows the first values of the list and then the browser gets unresponsive for several minutes (with a high CPU usage in this time) and finally the listbox closes without the possibility to select a value. This seems to be a problem only of the edge browser in connection with an RDP session. When I start the same report on the server console it behaves normal. When I use the old Internet Explorer in the RDP session it behaves normal.

We experienced this behavior with RDP connections to 2016 and 2019 Windows servers, running on VMWare. The Edge version on the client and server is new (Edge 108.0.1462). Is this a known problem? I wasn’t able to find any information in the internet. Is there any solution to make such reports usable with Edge browser in a remote session?

    Hi @Ulrich M. Weber ,

I've tried more character strings in the listbox, but it works well as normal (a bit freeze was detected though). You'll notice the warning possible performance impact when you select the dataset for your listbox, so it should have something to do with the performance issue. Since your organization only allows to use Edge, I guess it is impossible to perform a test in Chrome (which is also based on Chromium), but I'll offer as many suggestions as I can:

    1. Try turning off extensions if you have installed some. Extensions will have an impact on performance, too.
    2. Try VMs with better hardware. Mine for reference: VM
    3. Try updating your Reporting Services to newer versions.
    4. If these suggestions are not applicable/helpful for now, please send feedback to Edge Dev Team using Alt+Shift+I within the browser.

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved in Edge Version 109: 109.0.1518.70

That's fine. The new Edge version solved our issue. So it seems that someone at Microsoft was able to reproduce our problem.
