When my 11 Yr old son enters his Microsoft account password to log on to his new laptop, he receives a message starting ‘Call us overprotective…’ which then says he needs a security code to access his computer. It asks to send a code to my mobile number (which is correctly stated) but no text ever comes through - we have tried repeatedly for days. He is completely unable to access his laptop. How do I fix this?

    Hello,

Try the following steps on another computer and login to your Microsoft account:

    • Please log into the security info page: https://account.microsoft.com/security
    • Please select advanced security options > under the "Text a code" tab click the remove button to remove the existing phone number.
    • Then re-adding a new email address by clicking the "Add a new way to sign in or verify" link then select the "email a code" option > enter a new email address.
