How can one use the 14 Day Free Trial of Azure Databricks without running up Azure infrastructure costs?

I have signed up for a 14 Day Free Trial of Azure Databricks. The only code that I've run is that which is present in the Databricks Academy Learning Path for Data Engineer Associate. This is the only service subscribed to in my Azure Account. Though I'm in the 14 day free trial period, I've run up an Azure Cost of $50 in 10 days on VMs and Storage infrastructure. I don't have any clusters that have been active (they all terminate after a max of 120 min). Can someone explain what free means in the 14 day free trial? My databricks workspace still says "Free trial ends in 4 days", but Azure Cost Management says that I've totalled up $50 over this billing period under 'upcoming invoices'. Would appreciate anyone's help in understanding what's happening here.

    Hi John D'Souza,

Thank you for posting query in Microsoft Q&A Platform.

When clusters are terminated, they are like in sleep stage, but still behind the scenes VMs and resources were reserved for cluster, hence it will still cost you. To avoid such costs its good practice to delete the cluster immediately after use.

Coming to Azure databricks 14 days free trail DBUs (databricks units) plan, will usually get certain amount of DBUs for 14 days. If user exceeds that free DBUs then it may start charges and also if we use some additional services or features that are not included in the free trail plan that may also incur additional charges.

    Hope this helps.
