Windows 10 allowed user created items on the taskbar (e.g. lists of files or folders); is that possible on Windows 11?

Windows 10 permitted the following operation:

right click on taskbar --> Toolbars --> New toolbar --> select folder

after which a new taskbar element is created.

It seems that this is not possible on Windows 11. Is that true?

Win11 doesn't have a "Toolbar" like previous versions of Windows. The Apple/Chrome-like button in the middle is all you get AFAIK. You can pin stuff inside the little window that pops up but that is about it. It is a huge step back compared to older versions of Windows.

If you want Win10-like behavior in Win11 you'll need to use a third party app like Start11 from Stardock. These apps can bring back a subset of the features that were available but bear in mind they are not from MS and they still have to work within the limits of the newer UI shell. I'm personally using this app and for the most part it behaves like Win10.

    Hello Bostjan Vilfan,

That is correct, the new environment of Windows 11 have removed the usual taskbar menu options that were in Windows 10.

There are available some System Tray or Explorer extensions to enable this, but none is officially supported by Microsoft.

Basically, it is just product of a new design for the new version.
