Hi Team,

I need some clarification and details around guest user/external user and license associated with these . Below are the 3 different scenario and i would like to understand what kind of guest license are applicable here.

Scenario 1: Teams user invite a guest user to access Teams channels and collaborate, guest user is having his id in Gmail, fakebook or any open source.

Scenario 2: Teams user invite a guest user to access Teams channels and collaborate, guest user is having his id in another M365 Tenant

Scenario 3: Teams user invite a guest user to access Teams Shared channels and collaborate, guest user is having his id in another M365 Tenant and want to collaborate using Teams Shared Channel

While searching, found the below article but not able to understand what does actually Monthly Active User (MAU) here...is it all users including Normal Azure AD user and Guest user in tenant or only Guest user?

Any help will be really appreciated. Thank you

    Hi,

    • The wording seems to be a issue with the understanding however it is very simple pricing structure, In your Azure AD tenant, guest user collaboration usage is billed based on the count of unique guest users with authentication activity within a calendar month.
    • When your tenant is linked to a subscription and you use External Identities features to collaborate with guest users, you'll be automatically billed using the MAU-based billing model.

So any number of users under 50000 is free and above that it will be charged as per below:

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

Monthly Active User (MAU) means: the count of unique guest users with authentication activity within a calendar month

In other words, you can have 100.000 external users in your tenant, but the MAU is the number of active users during a calendar month.

To determine the total number of MAUs, Microsoft combines MAUs from all your tenants (both Azure AD and Azure AD B2C) that are linked to the same subscription.

In other words, all monthly active external identities you have in your Azure AD and Azure AD B2C.

    Hope this helps!
