Can sharing one file from a folder in OneDrive put the whole folder on risk?

Dear Microsoft User, i am a teacher and I am sharing files with my students.
Sometime I dont want to share the whole folder but just a file from the folder.Does this allow the students to see th whole folder or only the file share?

    If you share the file, the user can only open the shared file but cannot access the folder.

    User have no permission to access the folder, the file is the sub permission to access.
