This issue you experience is seen before. This is mainly due to the Azure Portal not being on par with the service.
The IoT Hub itself is usually/probably running fine.
Normally, it is fixed within hours (I agree, this should be working forever).
I recommend trying out another tooling like Visual Studio Code, the IoT Explorer, or using the Azure CLI.
If this does not work, please issue a support ticket to Azure.
