Change of static public IP (standard) due to disassociation and move to another subscription

Hello,

I would like to ask about the possibility of public IP address (standard SKU) changing in the process of disassociation from VM for example and following a move to another subscription and resource group. I have tried this in Azure myself and everything worked like a charm, the value of IP stayed the same after disassociation and move to another subscription and resource group.

I am asking this question because I want to be sure there is not any possibility of IP changing because we are planning to move the production IP address on which everything else is set up. If it did change it would create a lot of damage and therefore I would like to ask whether it is possible for this type of IP to change in the above-mentioned situation.

Thank you very much

    Hi @Gregor Anton Grinč ,

regarding your question "am I right when I say that after the disassociation of public standard IP or moving it to another subscription or resource group the IP address will always stay the same? (Meaning 100% of the time)."

I moved a Public IP a few times between 2 subscriptions forth and back for testing. The result was always the same: The Public IP was always the same before and after the move finished.

I won't give a 100% guarantee ;-) but I am very sure the Public IP will be the same.

    Hello @Gregor Anton Grinč

Yes, you can move a public IP address between different Azure subscriptions. You can use Azure Resource Manager to move resources to a new resource group or subscription. The source and destination subscriptions must exist within the same Azure Active Directory tenant.

It is always good practice to test the process in a non-production environment before making changes to a production environment. This will help you to identify any potential issues and to ensure that the process works as expected.

For more information on moving resources between subscriptions, you can refer to the Azure documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/move-limitations/networking-move-limitations

    Hope this helps!
