Some of VMs inside of VNET suddenly lost connectivity to Azure SQL and internet

At one moment 2 of 3 VMs lost connectivity to Azure SQL and internet. All VMs are in the same VNET, NSG is applied only in VNET level, no difference in local firewall settings.

Connection troubleshoot on VM gives 'Network connectivity allowed' but when we run Connection troubleshoot on Network Watcher, it fails on the last hop (destination, sql)

ea-web-ws2-sql

on the working VM the result is following ea-web-ws1-sql

Allow Azure services and resources to access this server is checked in SQL server

The same result we get when we test any public internet site.

Can't create the The Support Ticket as VM Connectivity Troubleshooter doesn't detect any issues so no Next step appear.

Any idea what could be wrong or how to connect support in such cases?

    @Mait Viljamäe

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

I understand that you are facing issues with connecting to Internet and Azure SQL from certain VMs.

    From your verbatim,

    • I can see all the requests are going to a certain Public IP, 20.X.X.224
    • Post this, I can see a lot of next Hops before the traffic actually reaches the destination. I wanted to know if this is an expected behavior?

    You informed us,

    • You had 3 servers in an Availability set.
    • You assigned a Public IP address was assigned to one of servers. This resulted in all other servers losing external connection
    • Removing the Public IP resolved the issue

    Cheers,

    Kapil
