I have an application that was developed in-house. We have hundreds of customers that we need to access this application. This application displays data and images from the server. I thought External Connector was a perfect solution as no users are employees but customers that need to look up data. I am being told by a vendor that EC will not work and I must buy the more expensive remote user cals for each user. The description for EC seems to fit my needs exactly. Can anyone tell me why I cant use EC. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Hello there,

EC might work well for your condition.

An External Connector license is an additional license assigned to a server that permits access to that specific server. One example is the Windows Server External Connector license. This license is required if any external users will access or consume any services provided by a particular Windows Server.

A CAL is not a software product; rather, it is a license that gives a user the right to access the services of the server.

Likewise, if you manage the devices on your network by using management software such as Microsoft System Center, a Management License (ML) may be required for the device being managed.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
