I received an e-mail from reply@nucohul.com.

It told me that Miscosoft account team found unusual signin activity from Spain.

Should I reply?

    Hi,

I've been receiving mails from no-reply@accounts-security.com on an almost daily base lately. Which include the following information:

    "... Microsoft account

    Unusual sign.in activity

We detected something unusual about a recent sign-in to the Microsoft account aires@live.com mailto:alert.signingin@hotmail.com?&cc=alert.signingin@hotmail.com&Subject=Report+The+User .

    Sign-in details

    Country/region: Russia/Moscow

    IP address: 103.225.77.255

    Date: Sun, 26 Mar 2023 17:26:40 +0000

    Platform: Windows 10

    Browser: Firefox

A user from Russia/Moscow just logged into your account from a new device, If this wasn't you, please report the user. If this was you, we'll trust similar activity in the future.

Because the email address doesn't contain "Microsoft" I've already marked them as spam. But when I check my account log-in history, I see a failed log-in attempt from the same countries mentioned in those warning mails.

So, before I block the sender, can somebody confirm that my suspicion is right and this is indeed a scam?

    Thank You.

I am just another random user, but I will say I got EXACTLY the same email, address and info sent to me, and my computer thought it was SPAM.

After reading yours I went and checked my history, and it appears there are unsuccessful attempts to get into the account almost everyday.

I do not believe the email is legitimate, and I think they just use our concern to their advantage.
The above responses say it would come from a "Microsoft Email" Which this was not.

    Good Luck!

Based on the information you provided, there is a high probability that the email you received is a spam or phishing email.

Firstly, the sender's email address "reply@nucohul.com" is not associated with Microsoft and is not a legitimate email address. Additionally, the email's wording ("Miscosoft" instead of Microsoft, "signin" instead of sign-in, etc.) contains multiple typos, which is a common tactic used by scammers to make their emails look more convincing.

Furthermore, the email claims that there has been "unusual signin activity from Spain" but does not provide any specific details about what that activity is, which is another red flag.

To be safe, it is recommended that you do not click on any links or provide any personal information in response to this email. Instead, you can directly log in to your Microsoft account using the official Microsoft website and check for any notifications or alerts about suspicious activity.
