Can't install cumulative update WS19 - Error code 0x80073712

Hello,

I'm trying to install 2023-03 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) (KB5023702) - installation is failing with Error code: (0x80073712)

Manually downloading and installing the update file from Microsoft Update Catalog gives the same result. Running dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth gives the message 'No component store corruption detected'.

Can someone help me? Making new server is last go. Thank you.

Have tried to restore from source c:\windows
Process stops at 91.5% but without an error

Some things to try

sfc /scannow

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn (manual steps)

a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of install media

uninstall the last successful cumulative update, install latest SSU followed by latest cumulative update

You can also try a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of the install.

Since the repair install also fails time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch fully, migrate roles over, and move on.
