Hello

I have a command:

User's image

User's image

but the path could change as I noticed several version of the ProtectionManagement.dll and ProtectionMgmt.dll

User's image

  1. How to get a list of all versions in our environment? What to look for? in which table, view?
  2. How do I update this file? Is it automatic? Is it from a specific setting?

Thanks,

Dom

    Hi, @Duchemin, Dominique

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

The version of the folder is corresponding to the antimalware client version:

    1

And here is the version list:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/microsoft-defender-antivirus-updates?view=o365-worldwide#january-2023-platform-41823016--engine-11200002

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/msda-updates-previous-versions-technical-upgrade-support?view=o365-worldwide

This is updated by the (KB4052623) known as platform updates:

    3

We can update the file by WSUS, SCCM ADR:

    Hi @AllenLiu-MSFT

    1. We are using WSUS as patching system and the KB4052623 is not approved.
    2. We have the patch KB4052623 approved in WSUS-CM (SUP) 2023-03-16_11-36-14 CM SUP.pdf but this is not used for servers.
    3. We the patch KB4052623 available on a share as well, is there a possibility to do a deployment to get this upgrade?

Any other method to deploy this patch?

    Thanks,

    Dom

    Hi, @Duchemin, Dominique

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Engine updates are included with security intelligence updates and are released on a monthly cadence.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/microsoft-defender-antivirus-updates?view=o365-worldwide#product-updates:~:text=Engine%20updates%20are%20included%20with%20security%20intelligence%20updates%20and%20are%20released%20on%20a%20monthly%20cadence.

So, the Security Intelligence updates configured in your antimalware policy can update the platform and engine version.
