I only have two bibliographic styles under references - APA and MLA. I have downloaded the other styles on to my c drive but they are still not showing up. Can you help?

    Hi @Marnie Holborow

downloaded the other styles on to my c drive

Could you please tell us which version of Office are you using now?

Please ensure that you have put the .xsl files into C:\Users<user account>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Bibliography\Style.

Please note, if you have 32-bit version, the second path should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\Bibliography\Style.

Besides, please make sure these .xsl files are not blocked via the anti-virus software on your machine.

The reason they are not showing up is because only the APA and MLA XSL files respond to an OfficeStyleKey request. This is a bug. Word reads this parameter when the language you chose when installing Word was not one of the 44 root languages. For example English (US) is one of the 44, but English (Canada), English (UK), English (Australia), and other English speaking countries are not.

You'll need to add the missing parameter to the other XSL files as described in the 2nd link listed below in Charles Kenyon's reply. This will provide a permanent fix. I recommend you save a backup copy of the files in another folder before editing them, and also be sure to use a text editor such as Notepad (not Word) to edit the files.
