Windows Server 2019 RDS Rdp file takes long to download from external site.

file type = cpub-qwic-****-CmsRdsh .rdp

We have a RDS Gateway that is pointing to a external site i.e public facing. Accessing the RDS via the external site https://remote.sample.com/rdweb  takes a very long time to download the .rdp file

When we access internally via the hostname of the RD Gateway ie. https://the servaname.com/rdweb rdp file is fast to download the rdp file.

Network flow

The RD goes through a Load balance to firewall to VMZ proxy (hostname) to firewall and to a public IP.

Please advise why the RD Webpage takes time to download a simple .rdp file.

    Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to RDP file slow download while download Externally.

    1. Please Go to GPO -> settings “Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> File Explorer -> Find and double-click the “Configure Windows Defender SmartScreen” policy.
    2. If you have any firewall rule then Whitelist it all traffic for this RDS External url.
