Hello,

I dual booted my laptop (HP Zbook Studio G5) with Ubuntu. Everything works fine, except when I plugged in the hdmi from the TV into the laptop to watch something, I could not select the output device to be the TV as it did not appear anywhere. It does not seem to recognize it, and it previously worked without any issues. I can see the screen on the TV, but I cannot output the sound to the TV, I can only output to either the laptop speakers or the headset that Im using. It does not appear anywhere in the sound devices, even when checking for unused or disabled devices. I switched to Ubuntu to try if it works there and it does, I can plug in the HDMI and output the sound on the TV. I tried multiple things to repair this, but none worked:

  1. Restart the laptop, plug the hdmi and unplug it, etc..
  2. Update, disable/enable and uninstall the audio drivers (just the general speaker driver under the Audio and Sound device managers)
  3. Restart the Windows Audio services
  4. Let windows troubleshoot but discovered nothing
  5. Also uninstalled Displayer Adapters driver and restarted

I am not sure what else I could do or where the problem comes from, would appreciate any help.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to TV HDMI audio not working.

    1. On Windows PC -> Go to Display Settings -> Multiple Displays (set to duplicate or extend)
    2. Please Update Graphics Drivers from vendor website
    3. Disable any Antivirus program you may have for temporary purpose

    Hello!

I have this problem too. I have an HP ZBook G5 studio 15.
It also appeared after installing Ubuntu.

Since then, NVIDIA sound does not work under Windows.

With nvidia High definition audio properties: Device settings for HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_0080&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_1001\5&2724dc97&0&0001 were not migrated from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous device match.

Have you managed to solve this problem since then?

    Sorry my english :)

    Thanks: Attila
