Hi @YutongTie-MSFT Can I use the Azure Text-to-Speech for Freelancing (Voice-over)? on Upwork and Fiverr.

for such kinds of videos; Company introduction video, Factory introduction video, Online Marketplace (Amazon, Alibaba), and more about "Business Video".

  1. Can I use it for Commercial Purposes? "Earn money through Freelancing Platform"?
  2. Did I have the Right or License to use it?
  3. I saw a lot of Freelancers using it as well, and they say there's no need to pay because "it's free."

Thank you.

@Newstart Yes, you can use the audio files and text generated from TTS or STT for commercial use. Please ensure you are using a speech resource that is billed for your subscription. The billing will be based on the pricing as mentioned in the pricing page. If you are using a free account or credit you should upgrade to Pay as you go and use the selected tier.

You need not seek permission or license or pay loyalty to MS for using the output files generated from your resource as long as you use your own content as input to the service. Please ensure to follow certain responsible guidelines listed here while using synthetic voices in your applications and ensure proper disclosures.

You can look up more details about the compliance and privacy terms from here.

To summarize answers to your questions:

    1. Can I use it for Commercial Purposes? "Earn money through Freelancing Platform"? Yes
    2. Did I have the Right or License to use it? No, as long as you are using your own resource and content
    3. I saw a lot of Freelancers using it as well, and they say there's no need to pay because "it's free." The resource under free tier is only up to a certain limit. For all commercial purposes you will have to change the pricing to standard tier. Also, use a pay as you go type subscription. Free credit subscriptions should not be used for commercial purposes.

    I hope this helps!!

According to the Azure Text-to-Speech service agreement, the service can be used for commercial purposes. However, it is important to check the terms of use and licensing for the specific service and voice you plan to use, as some voices may have additional restrictions or licensing requirements. It is also important to ensure that you are not violating any copyright laws by using the service to create voice-over content for which you do not have the necessary rights.

Azure Text-to-Speech can be used for commercial purposes, including freelancing on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr, as long as you adhere to Microsoft's terms of service and licensing agreements.

However, it's essential to review the specific terms and conditions of the service to ensure compliance with any usage restrictions or licensing requirements. While some features of Azure Text-to-Speech may be available for free, there could be limitations or conditions for commercial use.

If you're uncertain about the licensing or usage rights, it's advisable to consult Microsoft's documentation or reach out to their support for clarification. Additionally, always make sure to properly attribute the service if required and follow any guidelines provided by Microsoft to avoid any potential issues with licensing or copyright infringement.
