I understand that there is a bug in Outlook, where it sometimes shows the unread email icon, even when there aren't any unread emails. So, I'm wondering if there's a simple macro, that will either open and close the sent items folder, (which should resolve the issue), or something along those lines?

    Hi @bob hamblin ,

    Welcome to our forum!

I understand that there is a bug in Outlook, where it sometimes shows the unread email icon, even when there aren't any unread emails.

I didn't find any Microsoft Official documents with such a bug as you mentioned. It's suggested that you could try the following steps to troubleshooting:

1.Please first make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.

2.Log in to web mail to check and mark all emails as read.

3.If all emails in web mail are shown as read, considering the influence of some views in Outlook desktop client, please try a command to reset the view settings: win+R> type: outlook /cleanviews.(This command will delete all custom view settings. If you need to keep other view settings, please remember to back up.)

4.If the issue persists, it is suggested that you could try to create a new profile (Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>add) and add the account for testing to check if there are some differences.

So, I'm wondering if there's a simple macro

Considering that you need the help of macro, please kindly understand that the Outlook tag here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client and i will add "Office Development" tag.
