Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Gateway server - Reverse traffic

I currently have a case running with Microsoft regarding problems with gateway servers hanging and thus not sending data from all the clients to the SCOM management server.

We have found that the "Microsoft Monitoring Agent" and the process itself are hanging. Among other things, we have run ADPlus (From Microsoft's SDK). And when the primary gateway server hangs, there is no failover to the secondary gateway server. The gateway server itself does not see that there are problems, as the service is still running. It receives data, but never forwards data to the management server.

But this is not the first time I see this problem with SCOM gateway servers where the traffic is reversed.

So I would like to know if there are others who have had this problem?

And I would just like to add that the reason we have turned the traffic around is because our security department has requested this. The 2 gateway servers we have with this problem are both located in a separate zone. And this means that our management servers ask the gateway servers for data. And not as usual, where the gateway servers automatically send data to the management servers.

    Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that you are having problems with your SCOM Gateway server.

For the current situation, we recommend analyzing the traffic through network monitor.

not sending data from all the clients to the SCOM management server

Whether the management server sends a request to the gateway server, or the gateway server forwards data to the management server is blocked.

    Hi,

do you mean with "But this is not the first time I see this problem with SCOM gateway servers where the traffic is reversed." that you have used the switch /ManagementServerInitiatesConnection=True ?

Can you please also mention the SCOM version and Ur level that you are using?

    Thanks for the update!

    Regards,
