System Center Endpoint Protection / Windows defender

Question

Hi @CherryZhang-MSFT

As we have several registries for System Center Endpoint Protection or Windows Defender which ones have the valid settings:

1 or/and 2?

We are using System Defender Endpoint Protection on all Operating Systems from Window Server 2008 to Windows Server 2022 and adding Windows Defender Antivirus or Windows Defender Features for Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Defender 2022 as it is required during the installation of SCEP.

Hi @Duchemin, Dominique, 

1, Beginning with Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 computers, Microsoft Defender Antivirus is already installed. It has the same features as SCEP.  Therefore, we do not need to install SCEP for Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 and later operating system versions.

2, About the registry your provided, the following information for your reference:

• For Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 and later operating system versions, Microsoft Defender Antivirus is already installed, and these tow registries is already created on my PC after I installed Endpoint Protection point in my environment. The screenshot for your reference:
• For Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1 and earlier computers, we can install SCEP for them, and we just get one register Microsoft Antimalware on our PC. The screenshot for your reference:
