Network printers get redirected in AVD

Hello!
I have problem with printer redirection to AVD. Users have local and network printers (IP port) installed on their PC. When they connect to Azure Virtual desktop (AVD) all their printers get redirected to AVD not just local one but also network printers. This makes problems when user is not connected to this network and as these printers doesn't work then.
Normaly only local printers should get redirected.

Anyone know why network printers get redirected?

Thanks

Tomaž

    Hello Tomaž Kralj

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform, thanks for posting your query here.

You can set a GPO to only redirect the default client printer into the session.

It is not possible natively to only selectively redirect USB printers but not network printers. You can also disable Printer redirection completely to avoid any printers to get redirected.

For network printers, it is usually the better approach to connect them in the session rather than redirecting them from the endpoint. This would require that the session host can reach the network printer.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

If the network printers are applied via GPO, you should use Loopack processing in replace mode and set up new policies for your AVD environment. you may want to configure this to add only workplace printers.

if you have users connecting from remote locations and have their local printers are redirecting, this may a Data Loss consideration.

I would recommend turning printer redirection off and applying the printers you want to be added the AVD session level either by GPO as mentioned above or any other means of your choice
