For the last few months every time I shut Outlook down if I don't wait another 10 mins before shutting laptop down it says it is still open when I go to shut down laptop despite not not appearing as open in task manager. Emails are not coming in and when I hit send and receive it appears all is in order but its not. Outgoing emails are fine,

I have brought it to PC repair shop, deleted Office 365 and re installed and it works for a few days and then goes again. Repair shop can't fix it either. I'm using IMAP and STMP. Emails come through to my iphone and I have to use webmail now also. Problem is just Outlook and it is driving me mad.

    Hi @Crawford Childcare ,
What's the version of your Outlook 365? (File > Office Account > About Outlook). Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.

It says it is still open when I go to shut down laptop despite not not appearing as open in task manager.

What is the status of your Microsoft Outlook in the Task Manager when the issue occurs? As I know, when Outlook status display like below in the Task Manager, it means your Outlook look client still has not been completely closed, which might cause your shutdown issue. If this is your case, please try to manually select and end Microsoft Outlook process and then check if the shutdown issue has any difference.

Emails are not coming in and when I hit send and receive it appears all is in order but its not. Outgoing emails are fine.

Does this cannot receive emails issue only happen to some specific email messages or all the incoming email messages?
As I know, for IMAP email accounts, Outlook client will sync and cache your emails on your mail server into a local datafile(.ost). And if this data file is corrupted, issues like yours might happens. So, please try creating and using a new Outlook profile via Control Panel > Mail > Show profile. Then open your Outlook with the new profile, Outlook will automatically re-sync your emails with your mail server. After the sync is complete, you could check if your receiving issue could be resolved.

It works for a few days and then goes again.

Considering this issue would come up again after resolved, there might be something in your environment which would influence your Outlook programs. In order to conduct further researches on your issue, please try the following suggestions:

    1. There could be some add-ins in your Outlook client that cause this issue, so after solving the issue, it is suggested to start your Outlook in safe mode (Press Win + R, type “outlook /safe”, press Enter.) and see if the issue would be reproduced again.
    2. Other programs such as antivirus software might cause issues like this as well. After solving the issue, please try to temporarily turn off your antivirus software to check if there is any difference

    Hope this can be helpful.
