We understand that when deleting files in the Archive Tier, there is an early deletion cost if the files have not been stored for the required 180 days. However, we are wondering if deleting the entire container that contains the Archive Tier files will also result in charges. Can you clarify whether deleting a container with Archive Tier files will incur early deletion charges?

@Jim Milagrosa Thanks for your patience on this.

Yes, deleting a container with Archive Tier files in Azure may incur early deletion charges if the deletion occurs before the retention period has ended.

The retention period for Archive Tier objects is 180 days by default, so if you delete the container before this period, you may incur early deletion charges. However, if you delete the container after the retention period has ended, there will be no early deletion charges.
