I recently noticed photos I uploaded from IOS to Onedrive for backup are of reduced quality. Can you please suggest how to change the settings to upload photos in the original format to avoid quality reduction?

    Hello Manvir T,

I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you.

By default, OneDrive uploads the photos in the reduced-quality format. How it works is,

    a. If you upload a 5.2mb File to OneDrive, it uploads it as 4.3mb. b. But, when you download the same file, it should be in the original quality.

However, Microsoft Offers to save high-quality images in original formats. Ensure you have selected this setting.

To change image and video capture settings. You may be able to update a setting on your Apple device camera to capture photos and videos in other formats.

    1. On your iOS device, open Settings, then tap Camera > Format.
    2. Under Camera Capture, tap Most Compatible.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

    This is not true.

After the upload the file size is reduced and download won't help to get the original back. Tested through mobile manual upload OneDrive App as well as auto upload through One Drive mobile app. Both ways reduce file size.

So currently there seems to be no way to upload pictures from mobile phone directly to Onedrive without any size loss. Yes I have compatibility mode set on Camera settings.

Please advise or have this MS fixed otherwise the OneDrive storage subscriptions are useless.
