Hello Erik Munoz, Welcome to the MS Q&A platform. As per the error message, there are still references to the classification you are trying to delete. Due to this reason, you are seeing this error message. In case If there are no references, then I believe it must be a bug. In that scenario, I would suggest filing a support request to delete the classification from the backend. Meanwhile, I will escalate this to my internal team. In case if you don't have a support plan, please let me know. I can enable a one-time free support ticket to work on this issue.
Microsoft Purview: Failed to remove Classifications
An error occurs when trying to delete Classifications in Microsoft Purview.
The exercise is as follows:
Appropriate "classifications" and "classifications rules" are created to perform classifications on data in a table.
For this, scanners are carried out, and data search through "Scan rule sets".
Then, the data is removed from the table, with the aim of entering different data. Afterwards, an attempt is made to eliminate the Classification created, for this, the scanner is eliminated, the "scan rule set", in addition to the classification rule, to free the "Classification" to be eliminated, eliminating all the associated components. However, trying to remove the "classification" but this was not possible.
The error it returns is the following:
Request failed with status code 409 Request ID: 087b1b6-4ab7-43f0-8eea-69ec1618d6e6 Given type test_rule has references
It then allows to press the "Confirm" button, however it throws a new message similar to the one above (loop). I have seen in other forums this same error, but when trying to delete Collections. When creating a classification, and deleting it is possible, the problem occurs when a classification has at least one classification rule associated with it, and at least one scan has been performed with at least one scan rule set. This is necessary, because sometimes, there are outdated classifications that need to be removed, since the data that applied to those classifications and classification rules no longer exist. If anyone has an answer I would appreciate your help.
