I have a few virtual machines backup configured on a recovery service vault set as Locally-redundant on the Storage Rep. type. As I know, this setting cannot be changed to Geo-Redundant on the vault, for that, I create a new RSV set as GEO-redundant, but, I need to set the backup on the new vault without lose previous backup history, it seems the only viable option is to delete previous data, before to set the VM backup on the new vault, but as I say, cannot lose this information. Is there a way to maintain this data on the old vault, and set the VM backup on the new vault ? or even better, move this information to the new vault ?

Hello @Emilio Segundo Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to assist!

For an Azure VM, you can stop protection with retained data for the VM in the LRS vault, move the VM to another resource group, and then help protect the VM in the GRS vault. For information about moving a VM to another resource group, see the guidance and limitations.

More details can be found in the link - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-create-recovery-services-vault#must-preserve-previous-backed-up-data

Hope this helps. Feel free to ping me if you have any questions!
