Reading Purview Business Assets using API

Hello,

I am trying to extract metadata from Business Asset objects (see screenshot) using the API but I am getting the error "[...] is not authorized to perform read entity: guid=[...]" with a straightforward GET by Guid.

Is there a specific role that needs to be granted to read these objects?

Please note that I am able to extract metadata for other types of objects from the catalog using the same command (power bi report, glossary term, etc.). Any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi @cftj-0519 ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and thanks for reaching out here.

From the error message it seems your Service Principal or the user account trying to access the Catalog doesn't have necessary permissions.

Please ensure that the user account has below permissions.

    User's image

Data curators can perform create, read, modify, and delete actions on catalog data objects and establish relationships between objects.

I just tried to get the business asset definition using this API and was able to get the details without any issue

Hope this helps. In case if you are still having the issue, kindly share a picture of the user account with assigned currently assigned permissions.
