Hide, or mail-disable an on-prem security group

We have a mail-enabled security group in our on-prem AD that we are looking to either hide from GAL, or disable the mail attribute for that group. The issue is I cannot follow the advice to set the msExchHideFromAddressLists attribute to "true" because the Attribute tab is not available for any of our groups in AD. We have made sure the "Advanced Features" setting is on in AD.

I also cannot follow the advice to hide the group in Exchange Online because it is managed in our on-prem environment. Using the Disable-DistributionGroup cmdlet also does not work since that requires an on-prem version of Exchange, something we do not use.

Is there anything else we can try to either hide the group, or disable the mail attribute?

Thanks in advance!

Keith

    Hi @Keith Andrews ,

You can try to use Remove-MsolGroup cmdlet to remove the associated MSOL object. For the detailed steps, please refer to: Office 365: Mail disable an on premises security group
