Authenticator App Not Working

When trying to log into a Microsoft app (onenote and word in these examples), it will take me from the app I'm already in to the authenticator app, having the "open authenticator and input this code to log in" screen open in the authenticator app. Thusly, I can't open the authenticator app to do this, as it is already open on this other page that I can only leave by hitting cancel and aborting the login attempt. This makes absolutely no sense to me and I have been unable to fix it thus far. It's not even for the account I'm on right now, as I cannot log into that account on anything. Help would be appreciated.

    Clear Authenticator cache and check the issue.

    For Android :

    Settings > MSFT Authenticator app > Clear Cache.

    For iPhone:

    Settings > General > MSFT Authenticator app> iPhone Storage > Offload App button > Reinstall MSFT Authenticator app.
