20 days after the problem the machine is still listed there, it needs manual deletion. No idea how to do it. The tool doesn't have a way to handle this.

I have an on-premise Windows VM that crashed and was delete before removing the Microsoft Monitoring Agent from it so now it is still listed in Log Analytics, How can delete it from there?

This is one reason why you need to be very careful with Log Analytics. The data and you will end up paying for it. The steps to purge are not entirely clear for good reason. You asked a perfectly valid question and got no response. I am focusing on this area now in a big way which is why I am here and I can see the question was posed back in 2020. Microsoft should have responded to ne honest. It was not a complicated question.
Thank you @WR for your query.

The view in the Log Analytics Workspace --> Agents Management --> Machines , gets refreshed every 24 Hrs so the counter changes and the number of machines represents accordingly.
Hope this information helps, please feel free to revert back if you have any further queries. Thank you.
Having the same issue here. A Connections Section with a disconnect buttom would be greatly appreciated
The question which does not seem to have been answered unless I misread it once you have uninstalled the Monitoring Agent, the VM is still listed in workspace showing disconnected.
How can this disconnected VM be deleted from workspace?
The reason I need to do this is running script for hybrid worker on this VM and it fails saying it's registered to workspace which it's now disconnected. The script is trying register it with another workspace in same subscription and failing because it's registered with other workspace.
