Word keeps hanging on my Mac

I'm working on a large (11MB) word file on a Mac laptop with up to date Office and OS. It is constantly going into a hang. I've switched to Draft layout, accepted all changes and turned off tracking, and periodically ditched the autorecovery folder but nothing has helped. The hanging can last 20 minutes.

Did this problem only appear in specific document? Or all Word documents?

Did the document contain nay macro codes?

What kind of file format is the document?

I suggest try to check if this problem also appear in specific document.

Then send the document to other mac and check the result.

Installing the latest updates for Word.
