After updating registrar name servers to Microsoft, how do you then setup a custom domain for a static web app?
We created a DNS Zone but it won't validate .

I understand that you would set up the Apex domain after hosting the DNS to Azure.
By stating you have updated the registrar name servers to Microsoft, I believe you have created a DNS Zone in Azure.
If not, please do this to begin with.
Ideally, following this: Set up an apex domain with Azure DNS in Azure Static Web Apps
should resolve this issue.
- Now, for the error message, I would say please give it some time.
- The error message, is it popping up after you click "Generate code" or even before that?

2023-05-22T12:57:46.9566667+00:00 Based on your question I expect that:
- you registered a domain with a registrar
- created a public DNS zone in Azure with the same name as your domain
- updated the DNS records at the portal of you registrar to point to the Azure assigned DNS servers for your public DNS zone
- you have appropriate rights to change settings in the public DNS zone in Azure
from your screenshot, the next steps would be:
- click the generate to create a value for the text record
- Copy the generated value
- go to the Azure Public DNS zone
- select add record set

- fill the form:
- in name fill an @
- type is TXT
- value is the copied value for the generated TXT record
after this, validation should run fine.
