After updating registrar name servers to Microsoft, how do you then setup a custom domain for a static web app?

I understand that you would set up the Apex domain after hosting the DNS to Azure.

By stating you have updated the registrar name servers to Microsoft, I believe you have created a DNS Zone in Azure.

If not, please do this to begin with.

Ideally, following this: Set up an apex domain with Azure DNS in Azure Static Web Apps

should resolve this issue.

Now, for the error message, I would say please give it some time.

The error message, is it popping up after you click "Generate code" or even before that?

Based on your question I expect that:

you registered a domain with a registrar

created a public DNS zone in Azure with the same name as your domain

updated the DNS records at the portal of you registrar to point to the Azure assigned DNS servers for your public DNS zone

you have appropriate rights to change settings in the public DNS zone in Azure

from your screenshot, the next steps would be:

click the generate to create a value for the text record

Copy the generated value

go to the Azure Public DNS zone

select add record set

fill the form:

in name fill an @

type is TXT

value is the copied value for the generated TXT record

after this, validation should run fine.
