Hello,

We are a new business and we are going to use Azure IoT. I am curious to know if we should have separate IoTHubs and DPS for businesses in separate countries? If so, what are the reasons?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sagar Epari,

When expanding your business to multiple countries and utilizing Azure IoT, it is important to consider whether separate IoT Hubs and Device Provisioning Services (DPS) are necessary. To make a decision here are some factors to consider:

Data Compliance and Regulations: Each country may have its own data compliance and privacy regulations. If your business operates in multiple countries, it might be necessary to have separate IoT Hubs and DPS to comply with the specific requirements of each country. This ensures that data is processed and stored in accordance with local regulations.

Latency and Performance: Depending on the geographical distance between your business locations in different countries, network latency can affect the performance of your IoT devices. Having separate IoT Hubs and DPS in each country can help reduce latency by ensuring that the devices communicate with servers in close proximity, improving overall performance.

Localization and Customization: Operating in different countries often requires adapting to local preferences, language, and customization requirements. Having separate IoT Hubs and DPS can allow you to tailor the IoT solutions to specific country needs, enabling better localization and customization options.

Network Isolation and Security: In certain cases, you might want to isolate the IoT devices and their data within specific countries for enhanced security. By using separate IoT Hubs and DPS, you can create network boundaries to ensure that data remains within the country of origin and minimize the risk of unauthorized access or data breaches.

However, It's important to evaluate your specific business requirements, compliance obligations, and budget to determine the best approach for your IoT deployment in different countries. Azure IoT offers the flexibility to accommodate both centralized and distributed architectures, so you can choose the option that suits your business needs the most.

I hope this helps with your query?
