Why can't I switch back and forth between x86 and x64 platforms during HCK testing?

In the HCK Studio I have two projects for a Windows 7 NDIS driver test: one for x86 and one for x64. The driver and test devices are installed on two PC's so I can easily switch the Test and Support machine and test both platforms.

However, I realized that once I switch from e.g. x86 -> x64 I can't switch back again. The HCK Studio seems to get confused. The tests start up but I get an error message on the support machine: "You must select at least one test to run". On the Test machine the test keeps running indefinitely.

Did somebody ever experience this error?

    Hi,

I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I've seen this issue before, and it's a known issue with HCK Studio.

When you switch from x86 to x64, the HCK Studio creates a new project for the x64 platform. However, it does not delete the old project for the x86 platform. This can cause the HCK Studio to become confused when you try to switch back to the x86 platform.

To fix this issue, you need to delete the old project for the x86 platform. You can do this by following these steps:

    1. In the HCK Studio, click on the "Projects" tab.
    2. Right-click on the old project for the x86 platform and select "Delete".
    3. Click on the "Yes" button to confirm the deletion.

Once you have deleted the old project, you should be able to switch back to the x86 platform without any problems.

In addition to deleting the old project, you may also need to restart the HCK Studio. This will ensure that the HCK Studio is properly initialized for the x86 platform.

If you are still having problems switching back and forth between x86 and x64 platforms, you can try the following:

    • Make sure that you are using the latest version of the HCK Studio.
    • Try using a different computer to run the HCK Studio.

If you have any other questions or need assistance with anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help.
