How to run ContentLibraryCleanup.exe

When attempting to run ContentLibraryCleanup.exe I get a pop-up saying This App can't run on your PC.

I used the tool the day before without issue, now I can't run it. No changes were made and I am logged in as domain admin running the command from an elevated prompt, the same as I did the day prior. I restarted the server but that made no difference.

We are running Endpoint Config Manager v2211

Hi Karl Hafner,

It may be a compatibility issue, check the operating system version/edition/architecture etc.

I would suggest also to you to disable temporarely any antivirus or security software. Make sure that the ContentLibraryCleanup.exe is not corrupted and it was getting from a reliable source.

Thank you for your response.

We are running Windows Server 2016 (version 1607), SCCM v2211. Initially I ran the tool without issue. For some reason now when I try to run this I get the following message:

I have tried running this from a different server but get the same result. I'm not quite sure why this is popping up when running a DOS command or what possibly could have changed overnight.

If the tool is corrupted, how do you get a clean copy?

The tool doesn't have a user interface, you have to run it using a command line with admin privileges. You will find the different parameters in the line above.

Below the behavior from my side with the same OS and ConfigMgr 2111.

Thanks Youssef, that's exactly what I am doing. As I said, I was using this tool the day prior to the issue without a problem. Logged in as domain admin and running the command from an elevated command prompt from the main (and also tried from a DP) server. For some reason that message now pops up after I attempt to run the command. It seems to think it's a windows app. In the CMD box, it shows Access Denied. No changes were made but for some reason 12 hours later this started happening.

I even tried restarting the SCCM Server but this just will not run.

Have you tried disabling temporarily the firewall and the anti-virus?

No, I can't see how that would make any difference as you can see in the pic, I can't even get the command switches for the tool to show without this popping up.
