How to properly reset an Intune managed win10/11 machine to its factory default state?

We are rolling out 142 Win10/11 machines to our retail stores using Intune autopilot. So far so good. All the configuration policies with apps and scripts appear to be working and applying to all machines via Intune Autopilot fine.

One issue tho! A GitHub PowerShell script rolled out for removing all win11 built-in non-essential apps and applications turned out to remove many apps that we wanted to keep.

We were trying to reverse the win11 machines back to the factory default state (the machine's win11 HD image given by Lenovo). We tried using 'Wipe" and "Autopilot Reset" in Intune's Device list as well as "Factory Default Reset" in Microsoft 265 Admin's Device list. None of them could reverse the machines back to their original Win11 with all the vendor-preloaded apps and Win11 built-in apps. It appears the machine kept going back to the state that is Github PS script has been applied removing many Win11 built-in apps and vendor-preloaded apps.

My question is if it is true that there is no way Intune can automatically bring the state of the machines' HDs from day one.

Thanks Woody

Wipe should factory reset the device to OEM state. As for the removal of built-in apps is concerned, I personally moved away from using PS scripts for this and started using uninstall assignments of store apps. I have found it to be very reliable.
