Here you can see the item has a description field populated with multiple lines of text:

When I import the .ics that gets exported, the description field is cut off at the first newline character:

I'm running SharePoint server 2019 on premise. The issue occurs when the .ics file is imported on Office 365 or Office 2016. This particular text field is being populated by a legacy SharePoint workflow.

Strangely, if I edit the description field and save it without making any changes, the export will no longer be cut off. But I'm trying to get this to work without having someone manually do this to each appointment.

Per my test, this issue may be caused by the setting of Number of lines for editing in the Description column.

To solve this issue, go to Site settings -> Site columns -> Status Indicators section -> Description column -> Change the setting of Number of lines for editing. And set "Append Changes to Existing Text" to "Yes". Also click set "Update all list columns based on this site column?" to "Yes".
