Synapse notebook connect to Sql database hosted on Azure virtual machine using private endpoint

Hello All,
Im trying to connect a synapse notebook to an Azure VM that's hosting a sql server database. I need to connect via a private endpoint and linked service and not the public IP. I have been following examples like this: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/azure-synapse-connection-db-hosted-vm-from-spark-notebooks-pathak/
I setup all components like load balancer, private link service and also approved the managed private endpoint from Synapse workspace. I just cant get it connect using the private IP or the link servivce alias.
Is there any documentation or examples I can follow?

Is there any official Microsoft documentation you are referring to configure this architecture?
I am not sure why you are introducing a Load Balancer while you can directly create the Private EndPoint in the SQL VM's Vnet and access it directly from this VM
And when you say "I just cant get it connect using the private IP or the link service alias." what exactly is the error message?

The article you posted alows connections into the Synapse VNET as far as I can see?
