Hi,

We have 2 Exchange 2016 Standard box with DAGs member

1 Exchange 2010 (only use for public folders)

We need to mount more then 5 database but at the moment we can't as Exchange 2016 STD only allows max 5 database.

I would like to upgrade server to exchange enterprise, What do I need to do to upgrade it from std to enterprise

Is it just apply new Key and restart Microsoft Exchange Information Store service?

Do I need to stop or move anything before apply new key?

Do I need to do anything with DAGs?

Will this effect our hybrid join to exchange online?

Will old database will not be effected by this?

    Hi @lalajee ,

1.Is it just apply new Key and restart Microsoft Exchange Information Store service?

2.Do I need to stop or move anything before apply new key?

3.Do I need to do anything with DAGs?

    Answer:
Yes, in simple terms, you just need to enter the key and then restart the IS service.
You could refer to this: How To Upgrade From Standard To Enterprise Edition

For a DAG setup, as mentioned in the line above, since restarting the IS service makes your mailbox unavailable for users, so you’ll need to move the database to another server beforehand. To be on the safe side, you can put the DAG member servers into maintenance mode . (revert back when done).

3.Will this effect our hybrid join to exchange online?

4.Will old database will not be effected by this?

    Answer:

No, for hybrid and old databases, if you just upgrade the license, they should not be affected.

    Regards

Check to Enter your Exchange Server product key article for detailed information about how to change the Exchange license. You can change to from ECP; also, you can change it with the "Set-ExchangeServer" command.

After modifying, you need to restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.

About migrating the mailbox, you can also migrate it from ECP and EMS.
