Microsoft asking me to sign into the authenticator app using authentictor

Question

So I changed my alias for my Microsoft account. I then removed it from my authenticator thinking I had to sign in to it again. I had the authenticator set up, 2FA using my phone # and the old alias. So I try adding my account back to the authenticator app but it requires me to use the authenticator app? It's broken. I can't sign in using 2FA cause the account I enter to send a code to no longer exists? I thought going passwordless would help my account security but it has not. Logically one would hope that if none of these sign in things worked that the last resort would be asking for my password I once had. Please help. I cannot sign into any account anywhere that requires this email.
