I recently encountered an issue with Microsoft's BitLocker To Go feature and seek assistance in finding a solution. After encrypting my USB drive using BitLocker To Go, I discovered that it can still be easily formatted, resulting in the loss of all data, including the encryption itself. This problem persists across different Windows systems (11, 10, and 7), causing the loss of crucial information.

I am reaching out to explore any potential guidance or workarounds to make a BitLocker To Go-encrypted USB drive unformattable until properly decrypted. Enhancing BitLocker To Go would greatly benefit users who value data security, preventing the accidental loss of important information.

Any insights or assistance you can provide on this matter would be highly appreciated.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

I can understand your point but it is by Design that you can Format any BitLocker encrypted drive.

You can use Built-in encrypted or Hardware encrypted or Write-Protected drive but those USB will not be bootable.
