Hello @RohitBoddu-8474 and thank you for your question.

Is this the first time you are launching the workspace (Has it been failed ever since created?), or, was it running previously, and then get into a failed state?

@RohitBoddu-8474

If the workspace is in a failed state after creation (you have not used the workspace yet), then delete it and try creating a new one again.

For a root cause analysis, more detailed investigation is needed than I can provide here. If you have a support plan, please create a support ticket. If you do not have a plan, let me know, and I can provide a 1-time free support ticket.

@RohitBoddu-8474 are you still facing the issue? I have not heard back from you. If my previous posts have solved your issue, could you please mark them as accepted answer?

Hi @MartinJaffer-MSFT ,
I got the issue described above. Any chance you can help me create a 1-time free support ticket to look into this? I have been able to replicate the issue a few times since I'm using Terraform. Since I have reproducible codebase, I think we can get to the bottom of this and possibly improve the error message?

Thanks in advance!

Furthermore @MartinJaffer-MSFT , I've isolated the issue to be related to custom networking parameters (workspace works fine without the custom parameters). This points the issue to the networking setup I have but the error is unclear as to what the issue is.

 resource "azurerm_databricks_workspace" "this" {
   name                = var.workspace_name
   resource_group_name = var.rg_name
   location            = var.rg_location
   sku                 = var.databricks_sku
   custom_parameters {
     virtual_network_id                                   = "/subscriptions/XXXX-8b6d-4075-8d19-67ed18a0b2f1/resourceGroups/cuusoo-test-rg/providers/Microsoft.Network/virtualNetworks/cuusoo-tf-testanoj-vnet" //10.0.0.0/16

It seems that my issue was because I was attempting to use a subnet that didn't have delegation for databricks workspaces. This resolved the issue.

Posting just as FYI here. Would be good to get more meaningful error messages in such case.
